Ignite

The ‘Ignite’ range is a collection of wood-fired vases and bowls. Each piece has been decorated with a technique called ‘Sgraffito’, meaning to scratch.

Pieces from my ‘Ignite’ collection embarks you on the banksia’s regeneration process. Whilst most species are killed by fire, the banksia drops its seeds after a fire has passed. Burnt but not completely rid of this earth, instead fuelled and ready to grow abundantly. How much of this relates to your life?

The launch of the collection was exhibited at the ‘Through Fire & Flame – Ceramics Exhibition’ held in April 2023 at Segue Community Arts Cafe & Hub.

The collection of works was the result of the mentoring by Malcolm Boyd, an acclaimed, award-winning ceramic artist with decades of experience in the field. The exhibition featured a wide range of pieces that showcased the diverse styles and techniques used by the mentees, Glenys Evans, Andrea Hall, Wendy Kenworthy-Smith, Joyce Nowrungsah, Bradden Taylor, Cindy Tong, and by Malcolm himself.
