A series of carved capsules…
As I slow down and carve each vessel in the quiet of my studio, the world beyond feels fragile. Every piece in this series reflects that tension – a response to shifting landscapes, climate extremes, and the delicate systems that sustain balance on Earth.
Each vessel is created with intention: some wheel-thrown, then altered to disrupt symmetry and invite curiosity; all carved to reveal contour and movement. This body of work speaks to persistence and discovery – no two forms are alike, though some share subtle threads through glaze, texture, or form.
Michael Reid Murrurundi is a unique regional destination for exhibitions of contemporary Australian art and fine food & coffee surrounded by our beautiful gardens.
Situated in the thoroughbred, vineyard and coal-belt of the Upper Hunter Valley of NSW, in the small but significant town of Murrurundi, the gallery is an accessible drive from Moree, Armidale, Scone and Sydney. Established in 2006 the gallery, and its ever-growing botanic surroundings, absorb and echo the seasons with a robust exhibition calendar.
